Season Three ended with confetti in Tampa. Season Four opened with Curt posting the rules of engagement in all caps — "REGULAR SEASON ADVANCE IS 8PM ET DAILY!... FISHING FOR FW OR FAIR SIMS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!" — and then the league went out and played like it heard him. Two weeks in, the defending champ hasn't been tested yet, the Game of the Week has already produced two live-in-the-chat classics, and the two most interesting teams in the league might both be coached by guys who joined mid-Season-Three.
Week One: the Irish announce themselves
The spotlight game delivered. Notre Dame 45, Alabama 35 — Tayne over Jason in the Week 1 Game of the Week, two coaches who both made last year's bracket squaring off before anybody's depth chart had settled. Bowzer's call in #big-games: "Coach @taynejr gets a hard fought win to start the season over top 5 Alabama." Tayne streamed the whole thing — fighting the broadcast as much as the Tide, per his in-game review: "this shit been lagggggggginggggggggggggggggggggg" — and hung 45 on a Jason team that closed Season Three as one of the hottest in the league. Tayne has quietly been excellent for three seasons without a signature run. Opening 1-0 against Alabama is how signature runs start.
The rest of the Week 1 slate:
- South Carolina 24, USC 13 — Thrash over Teeric, live in the chat. Circle this one: it's just the third league win of Thrash's career, and it came in a game the whole league watched.
- Miami 35, Arizona State 14 — Lute over TBO, also streamed. The Canes made the Final Four conversation late last season and looked every bit of it here, smothering TBO from the jump.
Week Two: TBO answers at home
Seven days after taking one on the chin in Miami, Arizona State 37, LSU 31 — TBO over Cell in the Week 2 Game of the Week. Bowzer's setup told the story before kickoff: "Coach TBO and his alma mater Arizona State, host Coach Cell and the LSU Tigers." The alma mater held serve. TBO put "@everyone ASU LSU live in chat" up, then went out and swung from a 21-point loss to a six-point win over a Cell team that's been dangerous since the $250 LSU auction. That's the whole Big 12 in one week: nobody stays down.
And the quietest big result of the young season: Nebraska 31, UCLA 29 — JT over TV. JT spent the week before the opener telling the chat exactly what he thought of his own game — "Na I know I suck lol" — while staring down a schedule with seven conference user games on it. Then he walked into Week 2 and beat TV by two. It's JT's first win of the season and just the second of his young career. The B1G gauntlet he was dreading is 1-0 worse for him being in it.
The early ledger
Through two weeks, the coaches with wins on the board: Tayne, Thrash, Lute, TBO, and JT. The champ, the two-time champ, and most of last year's bracket haven't logged a user result yet — the Sheet fills in fast from here. The 24-hour advance is rolling, recruiting hours are back on ("Recruiting Glitch Activated," per the admin desk), and the Week 1 rule still stands: play your games, stream your games, and don't go fishing.
Every score from the Sheet through Season 4, Week 2. Forfeits and sims are logged on the site and excluded from records and write-ups, per league rule.
